Ladies in Waiting is a series of paintings inspired by the lives of courtly women after the Middle Ages, who were considered more noble companions than servants to their royal mistresses. Imagining these women in their complex political and emotional positions, as well as their strength and beauty, prompted me to look again at the great work of the European Renaissance painters and to learn from them.
